Spire Homes & Westleigh Developments visited the House of Commons on 15th November to officially accept the Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice in Community Housing for their homes at Seaton Road in Uppingham, Rutland The new-build development, consists of 42 homes for rent and shared ownership, and provides much needed affordable housing to people with a local connection to Uppingham.The homes were built in line with Spires’ key targets of providing quality homes which are environmentally sound within the communities where they operate. The properties were built in keeping with the rural environment and are well insulated; with 32 homes featuring solar panels which help the environment and help to reduce household bills. John Farrar – Chairman of Spire Homes, Cathy Sellars Spire Homes’ Project Manager; John Hyams from Jefferson Sheard Architects; Mark Rockley and Craig Johnson from Westleigh Developments Ltd all attended the event where Cathy accepted the awardfrom Raleigh Addington (Apprentice star), Operations Director for Tickets for Troops.. Cathy, said of the award, “It was a fantastic experience to visit the House of Commons and receive our award - I am absolutely delighted that we have received national recognition for the environmental accomplishments on the Seaton Road Uppingham scheme. It is a fantastic achievement for Spire Homes and it demonstrates our commitment to environmental best practice.” The Green Apple Awards are held by The Green Organisation, which is an independent environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world. |
