THREE quarters of the units at a newly built over-55s apartment scheme in Melton Mowbray have now sold, following the official opening of the complex by Mayor of Melton Councillor Ron Marks. Saddlers Court, the first development of its kind in the town, has been developed by Leicester based residential and commercial builder, Westleigh Developments, in partnership with Keystone Developments Ltd, part of the Longhurst Group, which specialises in private retirement housing for sale. The apartments have been built on the site of the former Express Dairy building at Rosebery Avenue, Melton, which had become derelict after being unused for two years. Spanning around half an acre, the site was formerly used as a depot and for storage. Westleigh has regenerated the area by building the three-storey block consisting of 22 private apartments which are a mixture of one and two-bedrooms with a residents lounge, laundry and electric scooter store. The project is Westleigh's first venture into Melton and follows hot on the heels of a similar retirement complex they recently built in Birstall, near Leicester, also in partnership with Keystone, which proved so popular that sales staff struggled to accommodate the number of advance viewings booked. |
